Easter Housesitting

Another week, another new house sit. This one is not really that new – we have been here three times. While it may not be the most pets we have cared for, after 50 chooks and a previous herd of sheep, it is the biggest variety of animals. Two dogs: one Great Dane and the other giant; two cats, two donkeys, three calves, one baby goat (not so little anymore), one deaf alpaca, half dozen chooks (not laying), pair of ducks, and 30 or so white doves. Guess what? We have a sea view. And a mountain view. Or we will when the weather clears.

Fall has arrived in New Zealand. This is a tricky time for us. US is changing to daylight savings, we are still on, but will be changing soon. The time difference changes twice in a matter of weeks. While we were enjoying talking to folks with a three hour difference (actually 21), it is now four and soon to be five (actually 19 = a day, minus 5).

Today is Good Friday, a holiday where commerce is prohibited. We are having hot crossed buns, an Easter tradition here. Tomorrow will be a shopping zoo before Easter.

Cat and Dog Sharing the Heat

Well I got interrupted; it is not Good Friday anymore. We have left that house sit and traveled to the deep south. Enough has happened here for a while another postcard. Unfortunately one of the giant dogs bumped my arm and spilled coffee into my laptop. No more laptop. You would not believe how expensive computers are in NZ, so I am trying to do without for a little while. This postcard is coming from a near 60 yr old on a mobile phone. Expect mistakes because I can barely see what I’m doing.
